WES K-3 Activity Day 2019
Fabulous Day to Have Some Fun with Friends
K-3 enjoyed a great day of running, jumping and throwing (three track and field components) along with flexibility, agility, endurance, strength and coordination as they completed 20 stations at our annual Activity Day Event. K-1 took part in the morning and showed great fair play attitudes and cooperation which are critical values to have as a developing athlete. Grades 2-3 had their turn in the afternoon as the winter was fabulous with a slight breeze. Huge WES salute to the grade 5 classes who assisted at the stations along with the teachers, support staff and parents who acted as supervisors for each group. Classes were divided up into two or three groups depending on the size and this allowed for maximum repetitions in all of the stations. Stations included: plyometric box jumps, 20 meter slalom run, agility ladders/speed rings, medicine ball toss, basketball dribbling, tug-of-war and balance, frisbee distance toss, high step skipping with a ball (three options), Tic-Tac-Toe Strategy game, Football/whiffle ball accuracy throwing, medicine ball lift and balance beam, 10 meter hurdles, rugby kicks, ring toss to a partner, penguin accuracy toss, standing broad jump, obstacle course, chicken-trout run, springboard long jump and introduction to high jump. Overall a great day for all and I hope all of the students and staff rest well tonight.
