Terry Fox Run 2019
Terry Fox passed away on June 28, 1981 at the age of 22. He had to stop his Marathon of Hope in Thunder Bay, Ontario due to cancer returning. To date, over $750 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research.
We, at WES, braved the rain and showed true citizenship and paid homage to Terry Fox, a true Canadian hero. Over 3 million students from 9000 Canadian schools are running/walking today to support Terry and his cause.
We are proud to display our 5 year, 10 year and now 15 year banner in our school gymnasium to honor a Canadian legend that Terry was.
Thank you to all parents who bought subs and water for the run/walk day and also to all those who contributed on-line with your donations.
Huge salute to the RCMP and all parent volunteers and staff for working security at the barricades to ensure the safety of our students.
Thanks to Town of Wainwright for setting up the barricades and to Town Council for closing the road for the hour to allow us to honor Terry.
We will always remember Terry for showing us all how to be a true role model for others in our fight to end cancer.
