Drumming - ECS-Scinkski & 6PS
Mrs. Scinski's Tues/Thurs kindergarten class and 6PS were doing a little more with reconciliation yesterday with the Indigenous First Peoples of Canada . The more we learn about our history, the better bridge for a relationship. Today we worked together on a little drumming and rhythm instruments. We even learned to sing the 'Harvesting and Gathering'(Cree) song as we concentrated hard on our instruments. This recording was from a PD day where teachers were able to spend a day with renowned Indigenous Musician, Sherryl Sewepagaham. Check out her music online. Each child got a turn to play the real drums. The drums belong to BTPS Central Office and they're there for us to use. A group of educators made them a few years ago with the help of an elder. They are the true authentic drums. What a beautiful sound!
