Welcome Back to WES!

Good afternoon, WES families! We are all so excited to welcome our students back to school in September here at WES!

We know that you have many questions about our re-entry. We want to assure you that BTPS is working hard to plan the safest re-entry to school possible. There is a divisional Re-Entry committee that is meeting regularly to provide direction and support to each school. As well, BTPS system administrators met with principals and assistant principals this morning to begin to answer questions and help with planning. These meetings will continue on a regular basis as we approach September 1. We will provide detailed information as it becomes available. For now, please rest assured that our WES administrators, WES staff and BTPS system administrators are working hard behind the scenes to plan for a successful, safe return to school in September.

Here are some details that may help in your planning for the start of school:

1. Masks are mandatory for all staff and students in grades four, five and six, and are optional for students in ECS - grade three. Students will be provided with two reusable masks each by Alberta Education. Masks will need to be cleaned prior to each school day. Parents are welcome to purchase additional masks for their children from other sources as well.

2. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the school. A list of approved hand sanitizers will be sent to parents prior to the start of the school year. If parents wish to send sanitizer with their child, they will need to ensure that they are purchasing from the approved list, and will need to have the sanitizer approved by WES administrators.

3. Updated supply lists can be found at http://wes.btps.ca/Supply%20Lists.php

4. If parents are concerned about their child’s or family’s safety due to compromised immune systems, medical conditions, etc., and are going to keep their children at home this year, we would ask that you let us know as soon as possible. This way we can have a more accurate count of in-school students, and can also help guide you in the process of registering for home schooling with BTPS.

We will be working on other procedures and processes like staggered entrance times, staggered recesses, etc. We will share information and processes as we finalize them. Stay tuned for more information, and WELCOME BACK!!!
