Hoops for the Hungry
Hoops for the Hungry took place outside in our Grade 6 basketball area with our Grade 5 and 6 taking part during their lunch recess. For every basket that was made the WES Phys. Ed. Department would donate $0.25 to our local food bank.
Our students were excited and pumped to knock down a basket for our local food bank. Students could be heard shouting, "There's another 25 cents for the food bank." Or "Our basket is at $13.25, keep shooting!"
The grand total came in at 904 baskets made for a donate of $226.00 towards the Wainwright and Area Food Bank.
The Hoops for the Hungry served two main purposes to donate to a worthy cause and promote citizenship and also to bring some school spirit to our students. The pandemic has not been easy on our staff and students. It is important to celebrate successes whenever we can and this was definitely a win-win for all involved.
Well done WES!
