Inclusive Learning - Ed. Asst., Early Literacy/ESL, Educational Assistants
Hello! I am an educational assistant here at WES, and have been for the better part of 32 years and counting. WES isn't just my job but it’s my second home and family! I feel fortunate to have worked along side many fantastic educators that truly care about “our” children and about building a safe, caring and respectful community in which we can all feel valued and thrive.
My current role at WES is assisting our Inclusive Learning Team and homeroom teachers with literacy supports for K-6 students, such as; developing Early Literacy readiness skills (ECS), Guided Reading (also known as RTI), and English as a Second Language (ESL). Literacy is the cornerstone of all learning and it is our focus and goal to do all that we can to help our students develop this very important life skill and to feel success. I love helping turn those “can’ts” into “cans” and hopefully spark a lifelong love of reading/learning.
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Rob, for 28 years. We have two grown children - I am STILL adjusting to an empty nest! Our daughter, Ashlyn completed her Bachelor of Arts degree and is a researcher for Alberta Health Services. Our son, Ryley completed his instrumentation program at Nait and is working in this field. I enjoy traveling, camping, gardening, cooking, time at the family cabin and spoiling my cat (and third child lol) Suki.
