Letter to Parents/Guardians Dec 5, 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are seeing a small uptick in illnesses this week at the school.  When illnesses in school populations reach 10% we are required to report it to Alberta Health Services.  At WES, this means when we have 39 or more students out of 386, away due to illness we have to report it.  Today, we met 10%, with several of these students (but not all), staying home due to stomach related issues.   Because of this, Alberta Health Services has asked that we send a Gastroenteritis School Outbreak Precaution Letter to you that outlines their recommendations to help prevent further illness.  Please take the time to read through the attached letter.  If your child is telling you they are not feeling well, we kindly ask that you keep them home to monitor their symptoms for the time recommended by AHS.  

We appreciate your help in keeping our families healthy.  We will be implementing additional cleaning and disinfecting measures throughout the school, as recommended in the guideline sent to us by Alberta Health Services.
