WES Celebration Day 2022

Grade One – We would like to recognize our grade one classes for their citizenship within the community.  This year they helped water and weed the community garden.  Anyone who gardens knows the amount of work that goes into growing vegetables and keeping it weed free, but to do it for others, from the goodness of your hearts, is truly remarkable.  We know you had fun while you helped out and learned some new skills.  We are so proud of everything you have done this year!

Grade Two – This year our grade two classes are being recognized for showing empathy for members of our community by creating handmade cards for seniors living in long term care facilities.  They did a great job bringing joy to several people this year.  It warms our hearts to see you taking care of others in such a thoughtful way!

Grade Three – As our students get older, their concept of citizenship grows.  Their community gets bigger every day and they start understanding more about the world around them.  This year our grade threes are being recognized for both community and world citizenship.  In the community, they made handmade Christmas cards for seniors with messages of hope and well wishes to brighten their Christmas Season.  

Across the globe, grade three positively impacted the quality of life for others by loaning money to individuals through KIVA.  KIVA’s motto is Make a loan, change a life, and grade three did just that, twice.  First, Mrs. Golinowski’s class, after a great discussion and class vote, decided to give a loan to Naum in Kenya for him to purchase farm seed, and then Mrs. Stang’s class chose to give a loan to Robert in Peru who needed money to help raise his cattle, and go on to sell the milk from his cows.  

These are great examples of community and world citizenship and we are so proud of the empathy you have shown this year!

Grade Four – Our grade four classes are excellent leaders within the school.  This year grade fours are being recognized for taking care of the recycling programs, and for collecting and organizing all of our lost and found items.  A lot of work goes into these behind the scenes jobs, but you did them each week with happy chatter and smiles on your face.  Not only are you helping take care of the environment, you are taking care of each and everyone of us at WES, and role modelling what it is to be a great leader.  We are forever grateful to you for the leadership you have shown this year!

Grade Five – Grade five classes are being recognized taking on more responsibility, giving back to your school community, and your leadership.  This year our grade fives stepped up to be Bus Buddies for our kindergarten students helping them get to their bus stop each and every day.  They also participated in some pretty amazing programs, Dare to Care and Classroom Champions.  Both of these programs help develop life long skills in our students and inspire them to be and do better.  We have seen tremendous growth in our grade fives this year.  You should be proud of yourselves and the people you are becoming.  We are excited to have you return as leaders in our school next year so that you can role model all of the skills you have learned to the younger grades! 

Grade Six – Finally, our grade 6 classes.  You have been taking care of others within our school and community for several years.    This year you took it upon yourselves to make our school a shining star on main street when you took the time to rake all the leaves, and clean-up anything that seemed out of place.  You have also made yourselves available at the drop of a hat to help out in the school whenever you were asked, and had a great attitude accomplishing the task given to you.  Looking back there are several things you can be proud of yourselves for, whether that was singing to the seniors at the lodge, reading to a classroom buddy, making cards for community members, or just helping out when asked or not asked.  You are leaving WES as leaders and fantastic citizens, and we are grateful for everything you have done.  You are more than ready for Wainwright High School.  We look forward to seeing in the community, so please make sure you say hi to us.  We will be thinking of you and are excited to see what the future holds for you!

We would also like to thank our staff for the countless volunteer hours they have put into making sure each event we held went off without a hitch this year.  Whether it was our virtual Christmas concerts, Winter Active Day, Accelerated Reading Program, Jump Rope for Heart, etc.  you have gone above and beyond and it has not gone unnoticed.  Please give a big round of applause for WES Staff.
